Heather Smith Appointed To Women's Council Board

The Wisconsin Women’s Council is pleased to announced Senate President Alan Lasee's appointment of Heather Smith to the Women's Council Board.

"Ms. Smith has an impressive history of service to the people of Wisconsin through both state and local government," said Senate President Alan Lasee. "Her personal and legislative experiences combined will enable her to become a tremendous asset in serving women across the State of Wisconsin."

Ms. Smith, of Deerfield, Wisconsin, is the Chief of Staff for State Senator Luther Olsen, and staffs the State Legislature's Joint Committee on Finance for him. She has made her career in public service in Wisconsin, including having served as staff to Governor Tommy G. Thompson, Senators Dave Zien, Bob Welch and Neal Kedzie. She was formerly a member of the academic staff at UW-Milwaukee, and worked for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce. She is a native of Bangor, Wisconsin, and earned her BA at UW-La Crosse.

"The Women's Council operates with a bi-partisan Board and its Members come together from locations around the state, bringing to the table a wide range of experiences, interests, and expertise. I welcome Ms. Smith to the Council's diverse and talented Board and look forward to working with her in our efforts to identify barriers to women's progress and further Wisconsin women's economic and social equity," said Kris Martisek, Women's Council Chair.

Ms. Smth succeeds Kathy Blumenfeld of Madison, Wisconsin, whose Board term expired following two years of dedicated service.
